...what does matter is what the Bible says.

Is OK for a Christian to behold pornography?

So,  what does the Bible say about pornography?

The Scriptures are not plain in regards to pornography.  In other words, it doesn't say, "Thou shalt not view pornography".  However, there are some pretty clear guidelines as far as the things we put into our minds.  Let's take a look at a few examples:

Matthew 5:27“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28“But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Here, Jesus is explaining that while the act of participating in adultery is sinful, so is even the thought of it.  He explains that the sinfulness of something is more than just the action, it comes from the mind.

I Corinthians 10:31   "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

Here the principle is given that whatever you participate in, make sure you are able to do it to the glory of God.

Philippians 4:8  "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."

Just in three verses alone we find guidance to support the fact that not only is pornography something that a Christian shouldn't participate in, but there are perhaps many other things in this world that are not really suitable for a Christian.

There are many other things that could be said about the principle of pornography and the Christian life.  If you would like a more complete study, just let us know by contacting us through our submit a question page.
