...what does matter is what the Bible says.

How can I trust the Bible to be true?

If you are asking this question, I don't suppose a Biblical response would be the most beneficial.  However, I would like to give a Biblical reference before I get into the non-Biblical support:

2 Timothy 3:16  "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,"

According to the Bible, "all Scripture" is from God and can be trusted.

So, what physical evidence do we have that the Bible is true?  Of course, we are now having to get away from the Bible to prove the Bible is true.

In brief:

There are prophecies in the Bible that have come true, to the year.  The kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome were all shown to King Nebuchadnezzar in a dream.  He was shown his kingdom and the following three kingdoms that would take over the known world.  Guess what, written years and years before it happened, it was foretold.  Even before that king's time, the name of the one that would conquer Babylon was given, Cyrus.

Also, the health message of the Bible is another proof.  The things that Moses wrote in the Jewish law regarding diet, germs, and other things has, over the years, been proven correct by science.  For instance, well before science understood about blood coagulation, God told Moses to wait 8 days until a male child was circumcised.  He (Moses) had no idea that it wasn't until a child is 8 days old that the blood clots.  Hmm... coincidence?  I don't think so.

Have you heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls?  These were items found in caves along the West Bank.  Here is what Wiki has to say:  "The Dead Sea Scrolls consist of roughly 1,000 documents, including texts from the Hebrew Bible, discovered between 1947 and 1979 in eleven caves in and around the Wadi Qumran (near the ruins of the ancient settlement of Khirbet Qumran, on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea) in the West Bank. The texts are of great religious and historical significance, as they include practically the only known surviving copies of Biblical documents made before 100 AD, and preserve evidence of considerable diversity of belief and practice within late Second Temple Judaism. They are written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, mostly on parchment, but with some written on papyrus."

Does it take faith to believe the Bible to be true?  Yes.  Do you have faith?  Yes. (see our FAQ on "Faith")

However, instead of sitting back and proclaiming the Bible to be a myth, why not start a study of the Bible and see for yourself the truths it contains.
